We’re launching this site to create a clear, navigable public record of what we know about the Vernon MacAndrew Photographic Archive and the project to understand and share it—evidence-led notes, context, corrections, and progress—without waiting on the pace and constraints of an institutional website.

Keeping the repository separate from the Dartmouth Museum site avoids overloading the Museum’s web pages and news stream with a high-volume specialist thread, and reduces ongoing demands for web maintenance.

At the same time, it is strongly linked to Dartmouth Museum so readers have an authoritative point of reference for collection context and enquiries. It goes without saying that the Museum is entirely responsible for the care and stewardship of the Vernon MacAndrew Photographic Archive.
